Children’s Department –
Perechyn City Hospital

A professional team, modern treatment methods
and a comfortable atmosphere are our main advantages.

Project Objective

The main objective of the project is to ensure and improve the quality of medical services provided in the Slovak–Ukrainian border region through joint investment and the enhancement of the material and technical base of the Perechyn City Hospital and the hospital in the town of Sobrance. This will be achieved through infrastructure and investment activities, as well as the organization of study visits and educational initiatives aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services in these regions. The project activities make it possible to create appropriate conditions for children and their parents and, through educational measures and programs, to reduce the level of childhood morbidity in the target regions.

An innovative element of the project is the implementation of occupational therapy and the use of color therapy in the treatment of children with hyperactivity syndrome, neuroses, and post-stress conditions, which is particularly relevant given the events in Ukraine over the past two years.

History of the Institution

The history of the institution is interesting and personally significant to every resident of Perechyn, as it concerns the most important thing — the health of our children. The Children’s Department of the Perechyn Hospital was established in 1972. Until 1986, it was based in the former gynecological ward and had 36 beds, including 2 neurological beds. The head of the department was Raisa Mykhailivna Ivanova, who has been an Honorary Citizen of our city since 2007.

In 1986, the Children’s Department was moved to the “BAM” building, now the therapeutic wing, where it was expanded to 50 beds, including 2 beds for children with nervous system disorders. At that time, since the institution served children from the former Perechyn district, 10 children’s beds were located at the T-Remety district hospital. The department then had 3 doctors and 24 nursing staff.

In 1995, Viktor Oleksandrovych Maiser became the head of the department. In 2004, the bed capacity was reduced to 28 beds, in 2008 — to 20 inpatient and 8 day hospital beds. In 2016 — 20 beds remained, including 1 intensive care bed. In 2020 — the number was reduced to 15.

Today, the department is headed by Yevheniya Mykhailivna Svadeba. The medical staff consists of 13 people.

On March 22, 2022, due to the full-scale invasion, the department was relocated to the surgical building. Construction of a new children’s department began that same year, but work was suspended in 2023.

Completion and continuation of the renovation is planned for 2025–2026.
